At just 20 years old, Katende Yazid has already built a solid foundation both academically and athletically, positioning himself as one of Uganda’s promising football prospects. Born into the Lugave clan to Nantume Barbara Harriet and Jooga Ismail, Yazid has steadily risen through the ranks with passion, discipline, and a deep love for the game.
Academic Journey and Background
Yazid’s educational journey began at Africa Junior School in Bulenga, continuing through Kip and Je Junior School (Kikaaya), Summerland Junior School (Kyengera), and St. Paul Primary School (Buloba). He later attended Buloba High School and recently completed his UACE at Cardinal Nsubuga Memorial SSS in Ttomi.
His academic background reflects the same discipline he brings to the football pitch a balance of intellect and athleticism that sets him apart.
Football Career: Anchoring the Midfield
Specializing as a defensive and central midfielder, Yazid is known for his calmness under pressure, strong tackling, and intelligent distribution. His playstyle mirrors that of his role model, Thomas Partey, combining physical presence with strategic game control.
Yazid has participated in trials with Busujju Saaza FC, a respected regional side, and currently trains with Kick-Off Sports Academy in Buloba, where his development has been guided by his dedicated mentor, Coach Polly Moses. Under Coach Polly’s mentorship, Yazid has sharpened his tactical awareness and matured into a midfield leader.
He also receives ongoing support and guidance from Coach Daniel Male of Vipers SC, whose professional insights have helped Yazid adapt to high-level football expectations.

Yazid’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. His standout performances at Blessed Hope High School (Bulamu) earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, a major personal achievement and validation of his talent. On and off the pitch, he leads with humility, resilience, and a quiet determination that inspires peers and coaches alike.

With his UACE now completed, Katende Yazid is fully focused on chasing his lifelong dream: to become a professional footballer. He aspires to represent Uganda at the highest levels and eventually play internationally, showcasing his talent to the world.
