CRC Champion 2024 Leads Tree Planting Initiative in Mbarara City Ahead of Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2025
In a heartwarming gesture blending motorsport with environmental conservation, the 2024 CRC champion and rally driver Ssegaabwe Musa, together with his navigator Mathias Kiyega and a crowd of passionate fans, spearheaded a major tree planting campaign in Mbarara City. The initiative took place ahead of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2025, which is being hosted in the city this weekend.
Operating under their vibrant team banner “Segamu 14 Racing,” the duo led fans in planting trees along key street near bus park of Mbarara, symbolizing their commitment to environmental restoration and sustainability.
What makes this campaign stand out is that it was the fans’ idea. Inspired by the spirit of rallying and a deep concern for the environment, they proposed that Segamu 14 Racing together with Segamu 14 consult take up the challenge of planting trees in every city they compete in during this year’s rally calendar. The Mbarara initiative marks the second time of this green campaign.
“We are here not just to race, but to make a positive impact wherever we go,” said Ssegaabwe Musa. “Our fans have shown us that rallying can be a force for good, and we’re proud to lead this cause in Masaka City and Mbarara city.”
This isn’t just about cars and speed—it’s about community, nature, and legacy. They want their tracks to be remembered for more than just dust and engines. The tree planting took place near the main street, kampala road attracting support from local environmental groups, FMU environment department, Women in Motorsport and Mbarara City officials. The campaign aligns with broader national efforts to combat deforestation and climate change in Uganda.
The Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2025 promises high-speed excitement, but Team Segamu 14 Racing has ensured it will also leave behind deep roots—both literally and symbolically—in the communities it touches.
