At just 8 years old, John Patrick Muwonge(Bike No #202) is quickly making a name for himself in Uganda’s motocross scene. Competing in the MX50cc Senior category, John Patrick’s passion and determination on the track are turning heads.
Born on 6th July 2017, this young rider kicked off the 2025 season with grit and enthusiasm. The season opener in Masaka saw him finish in 9th place, but he didn’t let that slow him down. In the second round held in Garuga, he climbed to 7th place, and by the third race in Mityana, John Patrick had powered his way into 5th position—a clear sign of his steady improvement and fierce commitment.
Now, all eyes are on the next race scheduled for 17th to 18th May at Omito in Lira City. John Patrick is more determined than ever to claim a podium finish and challenge top competitors; Helena Birungi and Abigail Katende.
In his own bold words, John Patrick declared, “This time I want podium—no jokes to my competitors. Come prepared!” Speaking confidently about the upcoming race, he added, “This is the second time I’m going to ride on the Omito track in Lira. The corners are sweet, smooth, and the jumps are the best, so I’m prepared to attack.”
Off the track, John Patrick is a dedicated pupil. He is currently in Primary Three at St. Francis Junior School Buddo, a school known for its nurturing environment, strong academic foundation, and encouragement of talent both in and out of the classroom.
John Patrick is the proud rider in SEMKA riding Academy, a budding motocross training school for young riders like himself. The academy, owned by George Ssemakula, focuses on building skills, confidence, and sportsmanship among upcoming motocross talent in Uganda.
The young talent took a moment to appreciate the people supporting his motocross journey. John Patrick also has a message for his growing fanbase: “Come and cheer me on the track in Lira—I’ll do my best to beat my fellow competitors in the category!”
