In the heart of Uganda’s motocross scene, a family name is making waves—Makumbi. Led by the enthusiastic and supportive father, Rashid Makumbi, the CEO of Shid Auto Parts in Kiseka and Director of Rashmak Junior School on Lusaze Ssentema Road, this family is redefining youth excellence on and off the track.

Rashid’s passion for motorsport has clearly passed on to his children—Jamaira, Janan, and Ashram Makumbi—each of whom races under the iconic number 73 in their respective categories. Their rise is not only a testament to raw talent but also a reflection of their father’s unwavering support and pride.

Jamaira Makumbi: The Star of MX65cc #73

At the forefront is the radiant and multi-talented Jamaira Makumbi, competing in the MX65cc category. She’s not just a rider—she’s a sensation. Known for her determination, competence, and joyful personality, Jamaira has quickly become a fan favorite. Her love for speed is only matched by her versatility; off the track, she plays for Edgar’s women’s football team, proving her athletic range.

Her journey began with a spark of curiosity—just a glimpse of interest in bikes—and in no time, she was training seriously. Today, she dominates the track with confidence and charisma, earning admiration from fans and fierce respect from competitors. For her father, Jamaira is the “apple of his eye,” and his excitement is unmistakable whenever she hits the circuit.

Janan Makumbi: The Braveheart of MX50cc #73

In the MX50cc category, Janan Makumbi brings fierce competition to every event. Though younger, her bravery speaks volumes. Janan is known for bringing intensity and thrill to the track, challenging her peers with fearlessness and poise. Every race she enters is marked by a sense of promise and power.

Ashram Makumbi: Strength in the MX85cc #73

Rounding out the trio is Ashram Makumbi, a strong contender in the MX85cc class. His strength, competitive nature, and resilience make him a force to be reckoned with. Ashram’s presence on the track is a bold statement—he’s not just racing, he’s rising.

A Father’s Legacy of Support

Behind these young champions is a father who does more than cheer—he builds, mentors, and believes. Rashid Makumbi is always present, especially during race days. If you see Shid animatedly following every corner of the track, rest assured—his children are racing. His investment in their dreams, both emotionally and financially, is profound and unwavering.

Ready for the Lira Showdown

The Makumbi siblings are gearing up for the highly anticipated Mountain Dew Uganda National Motocross Championship Round 4, set to take place at the Omito Race track in Lira on May 17th to 18th 2025. This event promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with riders pushing their limits to secure crucial championship points. The competition is expected to be fierce, and the Makumbi family is determined to make their mark.

Together, the Makumbi family is not just racing—they’re inspiring. With their father’s vision and their own relentless drive, Jamaira, Janan, and Ashram are proof that passion, when nurtured, becomes legacy.
