At just 9 years old, Joy Norah Akao is already making waves in Uganda’s motocross scene. Riding bike number 896 in the MX65 category, Joy is a fearless and determined young rider who embodies the spirit of competition. A proud pupil of Little Muheji Primary School in Nansana, currently in Primary Four, Joy balances her education and racing passion with remarkable discipline.
Joy began her motocross journey in November 2022, competing in the MX50 Junior class. Her talent and drive saw her quickly rise through the ranks—advancing to MX50 Senior in 2023. By the end of that year, following an impressive assessment, she was officially elevated to the MX65 Ladies category, where she now competes with speed and confidence.
A true speed enthusiast, Joy says, “My competitors, come prepared and ready to attack—let’s finish everything on the track in Lira!” as she gears up for the upcoming event this weekend in Omito race track, Lira City. Her eyes are set on a podium finish, and she’s ready to give it everything she’s got.
Joy’s journey is backed by her strongest supporters—her loving parents, Mr. John Baptist Achal who proudly sponsors her racing career. Her father, whom she lovingly calls her hero, is always by the track, cheering her on with pride and joy. Her mother, a constant pillar of strength, ensures Joy stays grounded and focused.
This brave little girl, known to her family as “Daddy’s little girl” and the “apple of his eye,” is not only a fast rider but also an inspiration to many young girls in sports. With unwavering support, raw talent, and a hunger for victory, Joy Norah Akao is a name you’ll want to remember in the world of motocross.
