In the heart of Uganda’s growing motocross scene, few names shine brighter than that of rally driver Joshua Muwanguzi, affectionately known as The Omoro Lion. Known for his unshakable determination and passion for motorsport, Joshua is now channeling that same energy into nurturing the next generation—his own children, Abigail and Alba Muwanguzi.
Abigail Muwanguzi: The Star Girl on Bike #16
Born in September 2015, Abigail Muwanguzi is a rising star in the MX50cc senior category. Riding bike number #16, the tenacious primary four pupil at St. Theresa Boarding Primary School, Namagunga, has quickly made a name for herself on the motocross circuit. She currently holds third position overall after impressive performances in Masaka, Garuga, and Mityana respectively.
Her father calls her “the star girl, the apple of his eye,” and it’s clear why. Abigail is not only talented but driven. She’s already eyeing the podium in the upcoming Omito Race Track showdown in Lira, with just two competitors—Helena Birungi and Abigail Katende—standing in her way. But Abigail is undeterred, promising to give them a serious challenge: “They will not win without performance,” she boldly stated.
Alba Muwanguzi: The Star Boy on Bike #55
Born on 13th December 2017, Alba Muwanguzi, riding bike number 55 in the MX50CC Senior category, is cut from the same cloth as his father. A primary two pupil at Buddo Junior School, Alba is known for his fearless love for speed and deep determination. Despite suffering a broken arm in a previous season, he has bounced back stronger in 2025, ready to dominate the track once again.
When his father is cheering from the sidelines, Alba kicks into another gear—pushing boundaries with the kind of raw energy that hints at a bright future in the sport.
Team Muwanguzi: A Family Fueled by Passion
Behind these young champions stands a strong support system. Their coach, Sseki, is ever-present, shaping and refining their skills, while their mother; Betty Nabulya, described as the “backbone”—is a constant presence, wiping their sweat, cheering the loudest, and celebrating every podium finish with pride and joy.
And of course, there’s Joshua “Omoro Lion” Muwanguzi himself—their father, mentor, biggest fan, and main sponsor through his company, SteadFast Forwarders, Uganda’s number one trusted shipping partner. Despite his packed schedule, Joshua never misses a race, ensuring he’s always there when it matters most.
Looking Ahead to Lira
As the Lira race approaches, expectations are high. Abigail and Alba are ready to represent not just their family, but every young Ugandan dreamer with a passion for motorsport. With bike #16 and bike #55 prepped and ready, the Muwanguzi siblings are racing not just for trophies, but for legacy.
As their mother lovingly told them before the race: “The sky is the limit—go for it!”
