The motorsport and medical fraternities in Uganda are mourning the untimely passing of Dr. Arthur Ahimbisibwe, the Chief Medical Officer of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident along the Kiryandongo highway. Dr. Ahimbisibwe was returning from the Lira Motocross Round 4 event when the accident occurred. Despite efforts to save him through emergency surgery, he succumbed to severe injuries and excessive blood loss.
Born in 1982, Dr. Arthur’s academic journey began at Nganwa Junior School and continued through Nyamitanga Secondary School and the prestigious Ntare School. He later pursued a degree in Medicine at Gulu University and, at the time of his passing, was undertaking postgraduate studies at Cavendish University Uganda.
Dr. Ahimbisibwe served under the Ministry of Health as a dedicated medical doctor. His love for motorsports led him to join the Motorsport fraternity, where he became a committed member of the MPU Club — a club affiliated with FMU — serving as its medical doctor. In 2022, he was appointed to the FMU Medical Commission, the body responsible for overseeing medical safety in Uganda’s motorsport events.
Over the years, Dr. Arthur worked with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and passion at every rally event. His exceptional service saw him recommended by FMU to work with the medical team at the WRC Safari Rally in Kenya in both 2023 and 2024. In 2025, he was honored with an invitation by the WRC organizers in Kenya to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the prestigious event — a testament to his growing legacy in motorsport medicine.
Beyond the track and hospital walls, Dr. Arthur Ahimbisibwe was an avid biking enthusiast and a proud member of the Uganda Bikers Association. His commitment to the association remained strong even in his final moments, where he expressed heartfelt love and best wishes to his fellow bikers.
Dr. Ahimbisibwe will also be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished son, and a loyal friend. His warmth, integrity, and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
The void left by his passing is immeasurable, but his legacy of compassion, dedication, and service will continue to inspire many across the fields he so passionately served.
Rest in peace, Dr. Arthur Ahimbisibwe.
