Excitement has engulfed the heads of many MafuMafu rally fans after an exhilarating fifth round of the FMU National Rally Championship (NRC) that climaxed on Sunday in Fort Portal.
The Crew of Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musaazi put up a spirited challenge to win this year’s UMC Fort Portal Tourism City rally that covered a total distance of 280 kilometers. The rally duo outpaced 24 drivers including among others,Ronald Sebuguzi, Duncan Mubiru, Byron Rugomoka,Peter Kalule,Musa Ssegaabwe, and Nasser Mutebi proving that the Subaru Imprezza N12 is destined for more success.
“I want to thank everyone who has played a big part in ensuring that our car wins in Fort Portal”,Ponsiano said.
This is his fourth win of the season. His first rally win was the Mbarara rally (Lumala at 60, Mum at 90). MafuMafu also claimed the Bwera Bistro SMC challenge rally(Masaka and Sembabule) before conquering the EMC Bugerere(Jinja and Kayunga) rally respectively.
“The poisonous snake has once again swallowed the frogs, and it feels good for our team”,Ponsiano roared before pearl sports team. The,’frogs’ according to Ponsiano refer to a group of cars owned by Ronald Sebuguzi,Duncan Mubiru and Yasin Nasser.
The Clubman Rally Championship category was claimed by Walter Kibanda thereby cementing his position at the top of the standings. He had failed the litmus test in the EMC Bugerere rally as he suffered a DNF syndrome.
Celebration moods are already ignited at Viga Sports Bar and Lounge,for Lwakataka who is eager to unleash Oldies dance strokes before his lovely fans.
The rally calendar is left with two NRC events-CMC rally (Gulu) and the season ender,Umospoc Kabalega rally(Hoima).
