Football fans should brace for happiness as Friday’s match between Sudan and Senegal at Namboole Stadium will be watched for free. This comes as a token of appreciation from Uganda’s government to the many fans, who have supported the tournament in big numbers.
In a media address held on Thursday afternoon at the Uganda Media Centre, Local Organizing Committee member, Dr. Dennis Mugimba revealed that Government has purchased a total of 28,000 tickets for football fans.
Dr.Mugimba who heads the communication and Signage subcommittee further stated that all these tickets are for free and no one is supposed to pay.
“With this arrangement, the LOC has all tickets available for sale for tomorrow’s 3rd/4th place playoff match day. As a result, there will not be any tickets available for sale to the public”, Mugimba said.
The LOC Chairperson, and First Lady Janet Museveni has praised the supporters for their great efforts and enthusiasm exhibited during Cranes engagements.
“Thank you to all football fans that have made our homeland proud during this historic experience of our hosting CHAN 2024 for the very first time. You have made the experience both memorable and a successful one at that”, Janet Museveni said in a statement.
Uganda Cranes was edged out by Senegal in the quarter Final stage. The final is set for Saturday at the famous Moi International Sports Centre in kasarani (Nairobi)-Kenya.
