The stakes are high as Uganda Squash Rackets Association organizes the prestigious Africa Squash championship due 17-22 November 2025 in Kampala.
The event with full backing from National Council of Sports is expected to draw a big number of players from countries including Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, Siera Leone, Zambia, Namibia and host, Uganda.
In a media launch held on Saturday at Lugogo, association president Tamwesigire John Bosco Ahimbisibwe applauded National Council of Sports, for a job well done in supporting the inaugural tournament, that will uplift sports in the country and the continent.
“Government has started injecting money in squash, and we are extremely grateful,” Tamwesigire said.
The association has set aside $15,000 in prize money for the various winners in different categories. Players will compete in individual and team events categories. The approved venues are Kampala Club, Kabira Country club and Pearl of Africa hotel.
World Squash Federation, Squash Federation of Africa and East Africa Squash Federation leaders, will all grace the six-day championship event.
