The national boxing team has travelled to Nairobi Kenya for the Africa Zone 3 boxing championship that has drawn participants from twelve countries. The Ten-day event is scheduled for 15-25 October, 2025 ( Kasarani gymnasium). Uganda is represented by a total of sixteen boxers, with eleven male and five female pugilists respectively.

Among the participating countries include Tanzania, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Gabon, Central Africa Republic, Ethiopia, Somalia and hosts Kenya. The East African country last hosted the continental showpiece in 2005.

Bombers’ head coach, Kalyango Lawrence in an exclusive interview with pearl sports team revealed that the team is prepared for this boxing event.

“We have prepared well for this tournament. Most of the boxers are new on the team but have done enough training and we shall come back as winners”, Lawrence stated.

The coach is aware of the threat posed by Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya but believes that his team has gained enough moment for the challenge.

“These two countries are a threat, but our team is more than ready to put up a good performance, “Lawrence further emphasized.

The championship, sanctioned by the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) and International Boxing Association (IBA) is a good platform for Uganda boxers who have blended with an experienced touch of boxers. It is a moment of exposure, endurance, skills and extreme passion for the travelling boxers.

Uganda is a country known for producing boxing talents and such tournaments are an eye opener for a talented cream of pugilists ready to unleash the best in Nairobi.
