The Uganda Woodball Federation has ushered in a new executive that will steer the body for another four years (2025-2029). In an elective assembly held on Saturday 30 August 2025, woodball delegates from over 100 districts converged at Rivonia Suites Nakawa to usher in a cream of executive leaders.
Kayongo who has been at the helm of the body since its inception on Ugandan soil in 2006, delivered a message that highlighted on priorities including among others; governance, marketing, technical development, technical development, infrastrucal development, vibrant secretariat and collaborations.
“Now that UWF has got the instruments of power, it is time to act and move the sport to the next level”, Kayongo noted.
Presidential pledge
The Woodball head believes that the federation has a bigger task of ensuring that it acquires a home that will go a long way in shaping the future of sports in the country. The president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a meeting with Finance Minister Matia Kasaija and Permanent Secretary Ramathan Ggoobi pledged to support the budget for the construction of the multi complex facility worth $12.6m. The facility will be situated in Garuga.
Ten members make up the elective leadership with nine new members. Three ladies are part of the new leadership at the woodball body.
“We have decided to bring in, a national outlook as per the new sports act 2023,”Kayongo further stated.
