It is barely a few days before the 7-man team of five body builders and two officials’ leaves for the World Championships due 13th -15th June 2025 in Spain.
What is astonishing is the fact that this great team has been training without any facilitation, yet they are representing the country in this prestigious event.
One player who talked to pearl sports (names withheld) revealed that they have not yet received any support, but they are eager to represent the country.
“Indeed, we are excited to raise the country’s flag, but we are scared because visas are not yet out and National Council of Sports has not released funds to support us and leave something for our families”, the player asserted.
Another player questioned the modality of representation viz a viz the care given to national teams.
“Other federations give enough care to their national team players most especially, training upkeep, accommodation, winning bonuses and facilitation at international events”, the bodybuilder lamented.
The international event happens in the Auditorium Theatre of Salou, Spain drawing a big number of participants who will compete in a range of categories among them, Men’s bodybuilding, physique, sports model men, men’s classic physique and men’s beach body.
The ladies are set to compete in Women’s body building, Women’s physique, Bikini Divas and Women’s figure classic.
Uganda has made great strides in the World Championships with representation from among others, Ivan Byekwaso and Kizito Mubarak. This is a great chance for Uganda to make a mark as the natural competition creates a platform a great platform for the country.
