The month of February proved vital for three sports disciplines: Badminton, Chess and Football. The exceptional performance inspired the organizers of the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards to reward them on Tuesday 03 March 3, 2026 at the famous Molecule-Kololo.
Fadilah Shamika shines in Gabarone-Boswana
The badminton star won gold in the Women’s Singles at the 2026 All Africa Senior Badminton Championship with a convincing 2-1(21-17, 16-21, 21-19) win over South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz.
Fadilah also teamed up with Tracy naluwooza to add a bronze medal for team Uganda in this electrifying championship.
“I am grateful to Real Stars for this achievement. It encourages us to work harder, and it is prestigious,”Fadilah said.
Nyola Wasswa Mark was not among the top seeds
The 25-year-old student at Kampala University put up a spirited performance to emerge champion of the Uganda National Chess Championship, held at Sports View Hotel in Kireka.
Nyola was not seeded in this event but after a thrilling 12 rounds, he was crowned the winner.
” I was not among the top seeds but i did my best to put up such a performance,” Nyola stated.
Great month for footballer Richard Basangwa
The footballer who plays for NEC had a good month after scoring a brace for the team on his debut against KCCA FC.
He beat Vipers forward Milton Karisa and Entebbe UPPC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa to this prestigious award.
