Thursday 5th June 2025 is an evening to remember as the mighty Kampala University Original held a sports dinner at Ggaba campus to celebrate sports achievements spanning 26 years.
The event organized under a theme,” Celebrating 26 years of Sporting excellence”, indeed lived to its billing as a glamorous event with a first-class touch. The Décor, ambiance, venue, guests and choice of artists were top notch.
The university famed for producing top sports athletes in the country, invited a great number of guests who included among others; coaches, sports administrators, federation officials and the media.Notable on the list were;FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, Netball Uganda president Jocyln Ucanda and Association of Uganda University Sports president Penninah Kabenge among others.
The incredible guest list left the venue in much applause of the University’s founder Professor Badru Katerega.It agreed in unison that the Vice Chancellor has stood the taste of time to see to it that it produces an accomplished trademark of super stars from, athletics, Netball, football, Chess, Volleyball, kickboxing and most recently woodball.

The University’s sports tutor stated that the University is destined for more success in local and international tournaments.
“Indeed, as a university, we are proud of a strong team of coaches that has worked tirelessly”, she added.
The Male netball team won the East African title in Zanzibar as the Women Volleyball team won the Division Two title on the local scene and therefore earned a direct promotion to Division one.

She has assembled a great team of woodball players; both Male and Female. It is worth noting that it has gone to win more accolades most recently a gold medal at recently held East Africa University Games in Maseno Kenya.
Having been a great player, Lilian has taken on serious coaching and the results are immense, thanks to her coaching skills.
Professor Katerega calls for more Government Support
The University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Katerega emphasized the need for Government to give a hand in the area of infrastructural development especially facilities.
“We have done our part as private investors, but Government can also help us especially on facilities which are key for sports development”, he stated.
Accolades were awarded to a good number of the university’s sports alumni and a current crop of super stars who have achieved tremendously in the various disciplines.
Local artists Vinka and B2C wowed the crowd with electrifying music that left exciting guests in stitches but still yearning for more.
The glamorous dinner added much color to the Kampala university community and the memories will forever live in the minds of the sports family.
