Three national team players are set to represent the country in the World Breaking Championship in China. Chengdu, which is the capital city of the Chinese province of Sichuan will host the youthful event from September 12 to 13 September 2026.
While flagging off the team on Thursday September 10, 2026, at Lugogo, NCS Assistant General Secretary-Administration Joseph Oluga reiterated Government’s commitment towards sports development.
“NCS is committed to developing talents right from the grassroot. As you represent the country, take into consideration key aspects-patriotism, discipline and winning,”Oluga said.
The head coach, Serwakulya Edrine promised to bring back good results and applauded Government for supporting young talent.” My players are in the right shape, and we have camped for five days. The players are in good shape because of Government’s support and we promise good results,” Edrine asserted.
Barnabas Ssebuyungo, the Uganda Dance Federation General Secretary, said that this competition is a ranking one for these players as they seek to secure points for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar, Saly and Diamniadio Senegal from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
“Our players are competing in this break-dancing competition, and all are hopes are on them for good results. Represent the country and make us proud,” Barnabas emphasized.
The sports discipline, recognized by NCS has taken great strides in the country especially with schools. Its great rise is attributed to proper planning and transparency at the federation level.
