The organizers of the Fortebet Real Stars Sports monthly awards have once again recognized and honored the best of July 2026.
In a colourful ceremony held at Nanjing Restaurant Kololo on Tuesday, 4th August 2026, four winners were honored, with the lifetime gong going to former FIFA accredited international referee, Catherine Constance Adipo.
Isaac Mukasa, the agency’s Chief Executive Officer, who presided over the event, said that the monthly awards have created a positive image as they have and continue to honor athletes who excel at local and international competitions.” As a company, we continue to recognize and honor the best in every month. The Gazelles basketball 3×3 team impressed in Scotland
The Women’s national 3×3 basketball team won a silver medal in the just concluded Commonwealth Games, their first ever Commonwealth medal in basketball. They lost 21-11 to defending champions Australia in the final but their run to the final earned the country, its first medal in women basketball.
Husna Kukundakwe, brings joy to swimming
The swimmer won silver for Uganda at the Commonwealth Games. She secured the medal in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB8 final finishing with a time of 1:26:20, just behind England’s Brok Whiston who won gold.
Vital rally win in Soroti/Katakwi
The crew of Hassan Alwi and Musa Nsubuga was rewarded for winning the Soroti/Katakwi rally held on 24th-25th July 2026. The two claimed victory finishing in 1 hour 13 minutes and 17.48 seconds to further tighten their grip on the National Rally Championship.
Alwi, who was accompanied by the International University of East Africa team could not hide his excitement and applauded his support team for a well-executed mission in the Soroti rally.
“I am indeed grateful to the IUEA team for the sacrifice in our journey. We share the experience and teamwork is paramount,” Alwi said.
Gold medal in Archery
Precious Allan Asiimwe won gold in Men’s Para-Recurve archery at the 2026 African Archery championships in Oran, Algeria.
The event held on 21st-26th July 2026 saw the Ugandan player defeat Algeria’s World number 29, Izri Abdelkeder in a tense final decided by a shoot off.
Asiimwe, who was discovered by the Uganda Paralympics Committee in Kabale, promised more medals for the country.” I am very grateful to Government and promise to win more for my country in future competitions,” Asiimwe asserted.
