From three titles, Catherine Nanziri has added a fourth belt to her name. The professional orthodox boxer on Saturday night out boxed Tanzanian Husna Zamba to win the Pugilistic Syndicate Title-PST.
The 8 round bout ended in less than two minutes as, ’The Silent Beast’ quickly descended on Husna with a combination of heavy jabs to force her into submission. In the end, it was a technical draw as a bloodied Husna could not continue forcing the referee to stop the highly billed bout.
Cathy, who was thronged by many fans, could not hide her excitement.” The fight was so easy. I came expecting a hard fight because this was revenge time from Husna. I trained so hard with my coaches,” Cathy said.
The 26-year fighter under coach Sam Rukundo believes that this win gives her a big chance to showcase her prowess especially World Boxing Council.
The Olympian is very appreciative with the financial support from her sponsors, Friends of Boxing, where she doubles as a brand ambassador.” Indeed, I have been supported well by Friends of Boxing. They have been there for me,” Cathy appreciated.
Ugandans back home, led by Cathy’s parents, Friends of Boxing Management, fans and the boxing community at large, are celebrating the win on foreign soil.
