In netball, Namulumba Christine Kango played a key role in Prisons Netball Club’s triumph at the East Africa Championship, where they overcame giants NIC.
After receiving her accolade, she stated, “Honestly, this is a big push for me. I have just returned from injury, and I am named the best player of May. This award means a lot in my next games. I am going to work hard to win many. This award is a result of big support from the entire team. Our coach, Noordin Kato, and all his backroom staff have played a role. Now, after this, we are going to fight for every game.”
For the accolade, she beat competition from KCCA’s new signing, Margaret Bagala, and Police’s Joan Namutaawe, who also represented their clubs at the East Africa Netball Championship in Kenya.
In football, Allan Okello continues to shine in the country, with his 7 goals out of 6 games putting Young Africans on top of the Tanzanian topflight league with two points ahead of top rivals Simba SC.
Okello overcame U17 National Team Captain Owen Mukisa, who led the team to the World Cup, while SC Villa’s Charles Lwanga was also defeated in the race.
