The Uganda National Motorcross Team,’ MX Cranes‘ is back. The team of 34 riders and two officials made a grand return on Thursday September 3, 2026, to a rousing welcome at National Council of Sports. They returned from Windhoek Namibia after taking part in the FIM Africa Motorcross of African Nations 2026.
Milton Chebet, assistant General Secretary Technical at National Council of Sports, applauded the team for lifting the country’s flag and ably representing.” You have made the country proud, and you have to continue performing,” Chebet noted.
The Deputy Vice President (Motorcross), Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda, Arthur Blick revealed that the continental competition was not easy considering the sandy nature of the track.” Our riders put up a great performance. The track in Namibia is 100% sand compared to our tracks which are hard pack. As FMU,we are proud of the entire team,” Arthur said.
Hajji Hamidu Gombe, the acting president FMU asserted that motocross has made great strides in grass root development.” We shall continue engaging NCS for international competitions. As the federation, we are grateful for the immense support extended towards motorsports. “The fruits are always visible,” Gombe emphasized.
MX Cranes secured third position, in an event that was won by South Africa as host, Namibia finished second overall. The Ugandan riders competed in 50CC,65, MX Lites, MX125, 1, MX Veterans and MX Masters respectively.
