Mtn Uganda through Mtn Momo has this Friday September 4, 2026, committed 15 million shillings towards Ponsiano Lwakataka’s fundraising sprint due to take place on September 2026 at Victoria Raceway park in Garuga.
While handing over the cheque, MTN Momo Manager Simon Peter Kayiwa said that Momo is happy to associate with Lwakataka as he seeks to acquire a new car.” We are proud of Lwakataka and that’s why Momo came on board and put him on the Momo ticketing system. We have slashed the entrance fee by 50% to accommodate and motivate fans,”Kayiwa said.
Reynolds Kibira,the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda General Secretary, said that Ponsiano is an icon in the motorsport industry who should be supported wholeheartedly. ” If Ponsiano leaves the sport at this time, he will affect many and thus the reason, we should support him so that he gets the car that he desires,”Kibira emphasized.
MafuMafu as he is fondly known revealed that this sponsorship reflects the brand that he has built for the last 25 years in the cockpit.” Am extremely excited to receive this support from Mtn Momo. Lwakataka is seeking shs 220 million to acquire a Volkswagen Proto previuosly driven by the late rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia.
