The four-ball of Enock Ogembo, Eleanor Wambui, John Kibet, and M.M. Macharia returned a combined score of 114 points to emerge as the overall team winners of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour held at the par-73 Nakuru Golf Club on Saturday.

Ogembo’s team triumphed over the team of Stephen Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi, and William Kariuki, who returned a combined score of 111 points to be named the second-best team at the event graced by 228 players.

Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Ogembo said: “I want to say that I am very happy for this win. We have been practicing in preparation for today’s tournament. I have a solid team. Tomorrow, we will be heading to another tournament to sharpen our skills. We will bring the cup home at the tour’s grand finale.”

In the individual categories, peerless handicap 28 golfer Stephen Ibwaga returned an impressive 44 stableford points to clinch the overall winner prize, beating his closest challenger, handicap 19, Francis Wanjohi, who was named the men’s winner with 41 points.

Eleanor Wambui, who plays off handicap 15, had a fantastic outing on the course. The player returned 38 points to bag the lady winner award, defeating a huge field that braved the rains at the lush course.

Playing off handicap 11, Ibrahim Lande emerged as the staff winner after carding an impressive 39 points, edging out handicap 25, Anthony Mulisa, on countback. Cassius Pennington (21) rose to the occasion in the juniors’ category to win with 43 points.

William Kariuki of Njoro Golf Club, who plays off handicap 17, won the guest winner award with 41 points. Dr. Terra Saidimu won the longest drive in the men’s category while Florence Wafula claimed it in the ladies’ category.

On Sunday, KCB hosted a juniors’ golf clinic at the same venue in a bid to nurture the next generation of talent. Additionally, a tree-planting drive was conducted to embed sustainability as part of the golf series.

On Monday, 14, KCB hosted over 100 caddies in a round of golf at the Nakuru Golf Club. This is part of the Bank’s larger plan to onboard everyone as part of its regional series.
