The Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development-PIBID has boosted the Uganda Commonwealth team, ahead of the 2026 games, scheduled for July 23 to 2 August in Glasgow Scotland.
The Director General Rev.Prof.Florence Isabirye Muranga,while handing over nutritional items from the Tooke brand, highlighted the need for a balanced diet tailored to their nutrition needs, as they compete in the games. “I recommend, you have instant Tooke porridge, with milk every day and a milk shake for recovery,” Muranga said.
The food scientist reminded the athletes of the need to hold the flag with high esteem.” As we embark on this prestigious journey, you carry not only the hopes and aspirations of our nation, but also the pride, resilience and determination that define the Ugandan spirit,” Muranga emphasized.
2012 London Olympic Gold Medalist, Stephen Kiprotich encouraged the athletes to embrace God in all circumstances. “When on the start line, ask God for divine intervention, he will do it for you, Kiprotich said.
William Blick, the International Committee Member encouraged the team to perform well as they are ambassadors of a great nation-Uganda.
Commonwealth Games Uganda Vice President Moses Mwase noted that Tooke’s boost is timely for the team.”We are indeed grateful to Tooke for this support which goes a long way in building a strong bond with us,Mwase reaffirmed.
The 2026 commonwealth Games will be held across four main venues and return to Glasgow after 12 years since 2014.
